Situated midway between Belvidere and Oxford, Apple Mountain Golf & Country Club has been recognized as one of New Jersey's must-play courses. The course was built on an apple orchard, providing fragrant apple blossoms in the spring and colorful foliage in the fall. The unique design was built on a hillside, which in itself presents many challenges to golfers. The dramatic elevation changes from pin to green present difficult lies on the approach shot. There is no sand on the golf course, but with water on 11 holes, and demanding greens, sand traps will hardly be missed. A local magazine dubbed Apple Mountain Golf & Country Club's signature 17th hole one of the most perfect in the state. This par-6 hole was once the site of a ski slope. The hole doglegs down a mountain with treacherously positioned trees along the right.

Challenging course, well kept, friendly staff
This is a challenging course, well laid out. Some holes reward the accurate shot while other holes reward the long hitter. Plenty of water hazards require an accurate GPS for first timers or prior course knowledge for returning duffers.
As a first timer, my only complaint is on a few holes it was hard to find the next tee box but our adventurous spirit prevailed!
We will be back!!
Cheap, but worth the money
It was cheap for 18 holes and a cart, but it is such a nice area, and the course is pretty nice. They have a variety of good holes. I would recommend going there.
Great Day!
Course was great overall. Yes, as some people have reviewed here that some of the tee boxes are in rough shape; however, the staff is doing everything possible to fix it. Some tees were moved for this reason and if you look at tees being repaired, they will be excellent when finished. Fairways and tees look great.Fantastic views when looking down from the mountain tee boxes. 17th hole, which you can play as a par 5 or 6, is superb!
Great for price
The course is on a mountain so many tee shots down large hills or up large hills. Tee boxes could use some attention on some holes and 2 or 3 holes it was hard to tell fairway from rough. Other than that a great course and great for the price. Will be back there soon.
Great layout, but the course is in lousy condition. Tee boxes are chewed up.
The staff is very friendly and cordial, but the course is in rough shape and overcrowded. The pace of play was beyond slow. For the price, the value was extremely poor. Will not be returning.
Be aware of the mountain!
Putts tend to break away from the mountain. Keep it in mind while reading breaks. You won't need the driver much, but bring your best short game. Greens are postage stamp size, and elevated. Make sure you are below the cup on #'s 2 & 4, or putting will be treacherous.
The views make up for the quality of the course
The views make up for the quality of the course. Also there is a lot of wildlife.
Great Value, Course needs some TLC.
PROS: 1) Great Value $ 18-30 for 18w/cart 2) Maybe the most spectacular views of any course in NJ 3) Good Food, Friendly service. CONS: Fairway and rough, whats the difference? 2) Greens in tough but playable shape. 3) No Sand? 4) Cart Paths in bad shape, you will be "off-roading" in some stretches. OVERALL: Well worth a round in my opinion.
Needs major TLC
First the good. Apple Mountain is a nice layout - moderately challenging - in a beautiful setting.
The bad. The greens are inconsistent quality - some in very good shape but many that have major dead spots. The fairways are pretty poor - my lawn is better (and we do not water or treat our lawn). The tee boxes are atrocious - most have no grass and some have very little green (not even crab grass or weeds).
If you get the special GolfNow pricing at less than $20 including cart, it is worth playing. However, it is not worth paying full price.
Great Value needs improvements
For the price we paid ($14) , it was a great deal. The tee boxes could use some improvements, but you cant beat that price.
Apple Mountain. Bring your camera.
Despite the fact the fairways are narrow, tree lined and faster than a sheet of ice....the course was rather forgiving as you never found trouble past the boundaries. Having ample rain this season, the course though was extremely dry and super fast, but the postage stamp greens were med length and rolled appropriately. Shots were tough to keep in the fairway and the course could use some better yardage markings. Should be better in the fall and bring your camera. Recommended purely due to pricing. I've played worse for more.
Great Value,, friendly "neighborhood" course
In a suburban area about 2 miles off RT 31. Not a difficult course, fairways were true, not too much "bad" rough. Signs for holes on course and signs for some of the extreme dog legs could be better. Definitely a need for a roving drink cart and/or water at some holes. Staff very friendly as well as wait staff at course pub/grill.
Not too many on course on a very hot day - pace was good.
Great value at the Golf Now price.
Stunning views - challenging course
Pretty little gem tucked away in Northwest NJ
Friendly staff, challenging course with great views of Delaware Water Gap and more.
Nicely maintained course
Watch out for water on #2 and #3!
Save some pars for the last 4 challenging holes!
In the sticks but...
this is a pretty interesting course...it actually is a pretty challenging course. it does need to be lil more maintained though... fairways need cut and greens are super slow.....needs a good rolling. the layout is fantastic though and it does have a very interesting par6 hole. quite cool....its in the boonies and just to let u know just how far in the sticks it is.....when I was getting ready to go out the starter comes over and goes " so im not racist but how do you guys feel about the whole paula deen thing" .....now me being black and my friend being white we thought that was quite the conversation starter ...we rolled with it and clowned but if I wasn't a laid back guy that guy might have caused a little trouble for his course. he might want to think of some different things to bring up in conversation. the bartender at the 19th hole is very cool.
tough greens-needed tending. everything else was ok.
I enjoyed the course. very scenic, but many of the holes played the same way. Drive-wedge. some greens were not in very good condition. yardage markers were inaccurate. Great for the price I got it for.
No two holes alike! Great value with Golf Now.
Beautiful layout with some tee boxes offering beautiful vistas all the way out to the Delaware Water Gap! You will find that you need all the shoots in your bag as the holes play up, down and sideways along the mountain. Great fun for the entire family with a selection of tee boxes so the beginners in your group won't get discouraged while the advanced players will have their hands full on many holes.
If you don't like bunker play this is your course. I noticed only one behind the 18th green!
Well worth it with the GolfNow discount.
Just so you know, many of the cart paths are a joke. And many greens do have parts that just aren't in the best of shape. But for an affordable day out golfing, with mostly wide open fairways, and some truly spectacular views, this course was well worth the money.
Many greens are elevated so one shot you need in the bag is the short pitch. And you have a good chance your tee shot will not leave a level lie. The course has 4 tee boxes so you can bite off as much or as little as you're capable of. There is a beverage cart, and though we didn't stay to eat, there is an umbrella'd outdoor deck overlooking the 18th green, and finishing up around 5 on Saturday we saw people arriving dressed for dinner.
test all your clubs at this course
not a overly tough course but you must know how to play for high above you greens. one or two clubs more not to come up short.
Great views and restaurant after the round.
Great views. Great elevation changes. We played 18 holes in under 3 and a half hours. Super rate on Golfnow.
I wouldn't go again, without significant work on the course
The greens were atrocious. It appeared many had some kind of fungus and most had large spots of dirt. Putting was a joke as your ball bounced more than it rolled. Speed was inconsistent at best. The tee boxes were similar in poor quality - lots of dirt, very uneven surfaces, and very small on some holes. The layout of the course is okay and the fairways were in decent shape. Lots of dog legs and holes where you can't see the green from the tee box. I would not play this course again without significant upgrades to the greens and tee boxes.
