it was a pleasure playing here
Staff Were Friendly N The Course Was In Good Shape Despite All The Rain
This is a greaht course, especally for me the renewed golfer. Haven't played since high school, over 30 years.
They put in a lot of work on this course. All the greens were recently aerated and came up great.
Excellent rebound on the greens condition
Having played Freeway for years, I know what to expect from the layout. Hard to score on the front, easier on the back. Freeway puts out a Hot Deal that cant be beat, check it out. In just 4 weeks, the staff was able to revive the negative effects of all the early season rain and the heatwave, that made the greens spotty and almost lost. But to my surprise, the conditions are excellent now, bit slow, but plush and level, and devoid of dry patches entirely.
The rough can be penalizing, its maintained mostly my Mother Nature.
Considering price and condition, Freeway is a good value. Back nine is more fun and varied. That is why many people sneak off the back nine first.
Greens are good for the money. Fairways and tees need attention but again not bad for the price. The back nine is more varied and sporty while the front nine is mostly long and up and back.
Good course, fair condition, fairly open
I think this course is a decent value for the money. I had played here before and certain things this time around were more bothersome than before. The tee boxes I'm assuming are being repaired, so they moved the tees around into the rough in front of the tee boxes but didn't cut the grass, so teeing off on some holes with irons was basically hitting out of the rough already on your first shot. The greens were in better condition than usual, good slopes with some tough reads. It's a fairly open course, room for error but some errors can really cost you especially around the more wooded areas. We did have an inconvenience on the last par 5 where kids from the high school ran across the fairway and green and moved our balls and took the flag out of the hole. All in all it's a decent value for the course, good challenges and some easy holes.
Good Course, Long, Very fun.
Course is very long and the Greens could use some work.
But all-in-all Great course.
Where golf goes to die
More dirt than grass, sloped tee boxes that don't get cut, and shag carpets for greens. It's bad....avoid at all costs.
This course is beat up
Everything is beat up on this course. The tee boxes don't exists, the fairways seem like they haven't been cut and the greens have several dead spots everywhere. I only played this course to hit some balls. Can't take a round seriously here.
A good practice course
I have never been so disappointed with a course. Tee boxes were a joke. It was like they put the markers in the middle of the rough or fairways. I say that because the fairways and rough were the same. The fairways did improve some on the back nine but overall it was brutal. I can't believe people pay full price to play here. I won't be back at any price.
This course has great potention if they would put some time and money into it. Beautiful trees!
This course has a lot of land and trees. It has such potential to be a beautiful course with some upkeep and renovations.
Not worth the time or money.
The fairways were mostly patches of crab grass. The greens were also not in the best of shape either. It didn't seem like there was enough time given between groups off the first tee. All and all our group was very disappointed and will not go back to that course.
NEEDS A LOT OF WORK - OVERPRICED
None of the tee boxes are playable so you hit off the grass in front of them, the greens were like fairways, you had to crush the ball to even have it roll 10 feet. I shoot low 80s and was under par here and still left after the 14th hole because of the conditions of the course and slow play. I paid $20 for this and it might've been worth $5. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING
Awful Condition. Not worth playing.
Course was in awful condition. Could not tell the difference between the fairway and rough as both were cut to the same height, half dead, and covered in crabgrass and weeds.
Out of 18 greens only 4 were playable. Others were covered with sand or so uneven ball would bounce 8-10 on a 5' putt.
Our group decided that even though the course is cheap, none of us will ever play there again due to the abysmal conditions.
Very poor, terrible condition, pathetic!
Very poor, terrible condition, pathetic!, not maintained at all, that was not a golf course!
Terrible
Not only was the staff dismissive, but there was no sense of golf etiquette. The five some ahead of me wouldn't let me pass through. The tee boxes were all under repair and the greens were being air rated. If you ask me I am disappointed with golf now because the fact I was charged almost full price for a course that shouldn't have been open.
Have had better days- just caught a bad one.
First, I know not to bite the hand that feeds me. I was fortunate enough to play on this course for $17 on a Hot Deal with a good friend and those two things made the day right. Second, I generally like this course as the people (staff and players I've met) are friendly and the course layout lends to practicing with every club in the bag. Barbecue Greg makes some mean ribs and wings too! Third, what I didn't care for on this day was: Upon checking in the staff was not very friendly (as they generally are) and failed to tell us that they aerated the greens and put a lot of sand on them. I asked if ALL of them were like that and was told "some". After 9 holes of putting on what seemed like Atlantic City beaches, we found out the back 9 was closed all together "until some time later". Not really a big deal, but it would have been nice to know when we started. I booked a Hot Deal tee time earlier in the week at Wedgewood CC and they called me out of professional courtesy to say they were aerating, giving us to the option to cancel; I thought that was classy of them. Lastly, I think this course has potential to be nicer than what it is. As I said, for the price I take Freeway for what it is and will return in hopes this was just 'one of those days'.
Crab Grass Golf Course
The front nine was closed because rain caused the aerated greens to turn into mud. We played the back nine twice. The layout and routing was nice but course maintenance was very poor. Crab grass dominated both the rough and fairway so much so that you could not tell the difference between them. Aeration on the greens was so aggressive that it left divots on the greens. Also, the guy who did the aeration dumped the plugs in front of most of the greens. Overall, it's a place to play golf if you can't go anywhere else.
Will not play again.
This course was in horrible condition! DO NOT PLAY
