Excellent Condition & Challenge
I’ve been a member since beginning of June and love the decision I made to join.
From Blues, 6700 doesn’t feel overwhelming at all and the real challenge is once you get on the greens. The Knoll West is riddled with Knolls all over the green complexes which makes your ability to judge speed and reads crucial to keep 3 putts at bay.
Round speed varies but never more than 4hrs in my 10+ rounds.
Awesome Course For The Money!
Semi-private Knoll Country Club West was in better shape than expected! I had an awesome round and the course is undergoing maintenance improvements to improve its condition. Bring your A game.
Hot afternoon
Course was in good condition..Love the greens( very challenging.). I three putted twice and four putted once.
All around solid
Our foursome played this course for the first time. It was a beautiful course all around. The only negative was the yardage difference between white and blue Tees. We usually play from tees that are 6200-6300. The white tees here are at 6000 and the blue tees are at 6500. That’s a pretty big gap, especially since playing from the blues feels much longer due to the fact that there are only 2 par 5’s in 18 which make most of the par 4’s and 3’s very long. ie. 220 par 3’s and 450 par 4’s. Just be aware of this when choosing your tee. Other than that, everything was great. The food and drink choices were fantastic. Get a hot dog as it was one of the best I’ve had on a course. The course is forgiving and not overly narrow. The greens are big but you will be punished if you’re on the wrong side of the hole as they have a lot of undulations. All in all, I highly recommend this course.
Birthday round of golf at Knoll West
I always try to play somewhere new and nice on my birthday and Knoll West came through for me today.
I had also wanted to play the course because I have enjoyed other courses done by the course architect, Charles Banks. I definitely want to play here when the leaves are on the trees.
beautiful hot day
Fairways & greens were in great condition, the bunkers made it challenging.
The gem of Boonton
I love this course. It is hard to find deals on golf now but I was able to play it for $90 with a friend. The course has open fairways, a nice layout and challenging fairway, as well as deep green side bunkers. The greens were a little slower then the last time I played. The only thing I find strange about the course is that most of the greens have big hills and humps (not tiered) and it makes them very difficult to read after aeration. Great course half the distance of Crystal Springs if you are in the Bergen county area!
Great Course
Obviously wet from all the rain, but most holes held up. Decent value.
Excellent golf course
The course is better than most private clubs, especially regarding the golf architecture. The greens are fantastic, with typical Banks bunkering and exciting internal contours. The course is a great walk, although even on a weekday morning I had to pay the cart included rate even though I walked the course.
The course plays longer than the card, in part due to being par 70, and there may be a few too many long par 4's, but that is about the most critical thing I can say. I drove an hour and a half to play it and it was worth the time and the $90.
March 30, 2017
Great course which is in spring condition. Clubhouse is large and well kept. Pro shop has a good variety and selection. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Today's play was cart path only due to the soft grounds. The course was not crowded and I finished.my round in 2+45 (single). The challenge with this course is the greens which have undulations about and most are surrounded by steep drop offs and sand traps. Landing your ball in a 5' circle around the cup will take all the fun out of this course. A new driving range is being installed and should be completed in May. Also a miniature golf course is in the future construction plans making this facility more family friendly.
I will be back to play this course again this season.
Old School
This a great old course. Tees are close to greens so it is very walkable. Overall the course is in very good shape, especially the greens. They are really fun to putt, with all the undulations, typical of a Banks course. It's a little pricey for a weekday and there was some bare spots in the fairways. Beware of the cross bunkers through out the course. It's the kind of course you would enjoy playing every day.
Great Semi-Private Course
I'm a member here and play 2-3 times a week in the summer, course is challenging enough that it keeps you coming back. Grounds are well maintained and staff is friendly. Rates for guests are a little high though...
Good call on the hot dog. You are right. Best one I’ve had at a golf course.
