Cascades Golf Course
About
Cascades Golf Club is one of two nine-hole courses offered by Crystal Springs Resort, which offers four other courses. Cascades is the newest of all the courses. It was designed by Roger Rulewich, who designed two of the resort's most popular golf courses, Ballyowen and Wild Turkey. The other nine-hole course, Minerals, has been ranked as one of the top 12 short courses in the country, but Cascades still manages to hold its own. The course offers a fair amount of challenge but the main appeal is its playability. Cascades Golf Club is mostly open with a few strategically placed bunkers coming into play. There is also the occasional water hazard. The golf course is gentle enough for beginners but provides a quick but fun round for more advanced golfers.

Awesome
Best 9 hole course around .....love the course design ...hats off to the staff ...tight at times but challenging and fair ...no gimmick holes (my problem with other CS courses) greens were still showing signs of the recent aeration ..no worries though as these things need to happen at some point ...and it was reflected in the price ...I'll be back before the season ends
A great course ruined by "foot" golf
Great course ruined by this new combination of soccer and golf. 9 holes takes 3 hours because of this inconvenience. Why? To make more money maybe? For every hole you have 2 foot golf holes and according to the Marshall you can't tee off til they are off the hole.
Well maintained but only 9 holes
It was well maintained, and its design was challenging. It is relatively long course (Blue tee was about 6600 yds). Only bad thing was that it only has 9 holes that you have to play twice to make 18 holes.
the course is open but challenges placement of shots
course was great but beverages overpriced. beer and Sambuca $14dollars
cascades
course was great round was wrecked by foot golf players had 12 on one hole
Too much going on
If the soccer course and kids kicking balls by your head while your teeing off isn't distracting enough, the 15 min wait to tee off will be enough to throw off your game. The people infront kept waiting for soccer players to play thru which took forever. Kids were loud. Decent conditions but not any place to concentrate on your game.
Head Scratcher
This course does have some interesting and challenging holes. The problem is that the course shares the holes with this new craze "Foot Golf". So there are soccer players and families with young children on the course with golfers and it does not mix well. I found it dangerous and an tragedy waiting to happen especially on holes with blind shots. There are long waits and no real rules or guidelines for golfers and foot players to safely coexist on the same holes. Foot golf needs to stay off the golf course and have it's own separate course.
Great course
Not too hard, not too easy. The course was well maintained.
interesting
well maintained course, friendly staff. tight fairways. sunday foot golf was a small issue, if they could possibly start @ 10am you could start your second 9 infront of them
Non-golfers on the course
With golf carts they were playing some sort of soccer game that the course has set up. The problem was, it was a big group and we had to wait at each hole. Not only that, but at the last hole, they drove their golf carts right across the green. Bizarre.
good, challenging lay out
this is my 3rd time playing this course. its a great 9 hole, with 2 par fives...the course is expertly kept and the greens are very good.
Foot and Family Golf Needs Etiquette Lessons
First of all, I love this course, but that love is fading...
The entire course was empty yesterday. A group of women were finishing hole 1 as their last hole, and I was early so I waited it out.
Teed off the second hole, and then a cart comes by with a mom, pop, and their two kids. The kick balls come out and they go to the ladies tee,
which, at this point is in front of me, and start kicking.
I whiz past them, slowly past their cart of course, and take off to get to my shot that's in a bunker. "stop! wait for the man to hit!" I hear, as I turn
around to see the two kids rolling up to within feet of my cart and the bunker, giggling laughing etc, just kicking the balls everywhere.
I love that they were all having a blast. I love that it's a family course, embedded in what really is quite a nice course design that is also challenging.
I hit a couple bad shots with the thoughts of them in the back of my head. When I got to the green they proceeded to the next hole, and after 5min I was able to tee off, luckily I never caught up to them again. But. That. Was. Annoying.
This has happened more than once, last time I was with other players, and a father/son footgolf pair held us up badly, repeating shots, missing by a mile and kicking it back, etc.
I've been there. 3 Septembers ago, this was the 2nd course I had ever played, and the one I honed my skills on. So I hate to complain. But maybe an intro to golf seminar, focusing not on rules but courtesy and how to keep the game flowing, would be great for all these folks, just to keep the flow of everything going.
I rated food n bev lower because maybe 3 times in 2 years have i seen the snack cart out on cascades.
First time on Cascades
Played Cascades this past weekend with a new golfer and was extremely impressed with the course design and philosophy to cater to the new or junior golfer. What a great way to introduce the game of golf. We planned on playing just 9 holes but continued on and finished 18 as the pace of play was great and conditions beautiful. I was also introduced to foot golf and as a parent of 3 soccer players at home, i cant wait to come back and expose them to this form of soccer golf! Matt was the starter and was a great ambassador to the course. Be back soon!!
A Great Surprise!
What a good 9 hole golf course that I just played 18 on. I took my grandson who just turned 9, and my son-in-law, and we had a blast. The initial attraction were the green, or beginner tees, which were well placed allowing my grandson (who normally plays the red tees) to have par and birdie putts (he made one). The greens were a bit slower than the other courses at the Resort but were fine and maintained well. The holes gave the impression of being wide open but there was enough trouble to punish a wayward drive but I couldn't help but pull out the driver.
I did not know what to expect with "foot golfers" playing at the same time but in reality they play very fast and from different tees to different targets. There are 5 sets of tees for golfers and you can make it as challenging as you want - up to 7200 from the tips for 18. Conditioning was great and the people are friendly and helpful. To make things even better, we played under their "family golf" promotion and it cost $90 for the three of us - I was expecting to pay more.
I will be back.
Mixed with "foot" golfers not a good idea
We have played this course several times and have been very happy with the course and the staff until yesterday. Started off really good. Finished the front 9 in a timely manner. After we made the turn to continue the next 9, there were 6 "foot" golfers in front of us. For those of you that don't know what this is, it's people that play on the course that kick a soccer ball into 2 different holes on each hole. Needless to say it took about a half hour to play 1 hole!!! We wound up teeing up on 2nd hole but had to wait again for the "foot" golfers. Way to frustrating!!! We left without completing the other 8 holes. Went back to the club house to complain and all they basically said was there was nothing they could do about it. If we go back, I will definitely ask if they have any "foot" golfers scheduled that day. Management needs to figure something else out for this type of sport.
Foot golfers
Foot golfers really slowed the rate of play to a stand still. At one point my foresome, and 2 more behind us waited to tee off. 12 golfers standing there!
The soccer ball golf thing sounds cool and I actually wouldn't mind trying it.
But they need to tee off together and at once. Then let the golfers go. It is way too obtrusive now.
very good cond.
played at noon on mon. the course was not full so i could hit extra balls as i wanted. balls go father than in fl. you find you must change clubs distances here it is billed as walking but if you do you will need to be in very good shape. ride first time!!!.
Disorganized
First time playing this course. One of my pet peeves with courses is disorganization. While they do have few guys at the valet station they had no starter for the course. I was told to go as I was ready. Between my first and second shots on the first par four two groups showed up at the tee. One of the groups instructed the other to go to the second hole because of a league situation. They were nice enough to let me go through but things like that should no happen in my opinion. I was extremely annoyed by it. Also they have two holes on each green (one of them really wide), another thing annoyed the heck out of me. Course pace was very good and conditions were satisfactory.
Very nice 9
Nice course with beautiful scenic backdrop. Well maintained , only issue was groundskeeper seemed to be watering the greens everytime we reached the green. The group behind was breathing down our back with someone hitting off of the youth tea. Overall very good experience and amazing value.
