Colts Neck Golf Club
About
Colts Neck Golf Club is one of central New Jersey's most popular courses. The diverse course offers everything from Scottish-style bunkers to sparkling lakes. Tall golden fescue rough borders the fairways and the greens are large and undulating. The course is seemingly short at only 6,236 yards but it shouldn't be taken lightly. It's much more challenging than it appears. The layout finishes with two of its toughest holes. The 17th has a tough green fiercely guarded by out-of-bounds and the course saved the most difficult hole for last. This par 3 will test even the most seasoned golfers. In addition to the golf course, Colts Neck also has a 25-station driving range that stays open late. It's a great spot for getting in some practice after work.

Expected so much more for a course in Colts Neck
Was expecting a better overall experience but did not deliver.
Pace of play was very slow- no ranger anywhere on course.
Tee boxes are in dire straits but the greens were even worse.
Greens had missing grass, spike marks and ball marks so deep they couldn’t be repaired.
Wondering if they over water the greens……
BTW no beverage cart at all on a sunny afternoon?
Can only hope this was not the norm here.
Best part about the day was going to Huddy’s Inn- only minutes from the course to get a drink.
They have a great bar there,
Pace of play was horrible and marshalls did nothing. No balls in the driving range machine, so I paid for range balls and got nothing. The starter allowed 15 day campers to jump off the first tee which held up play. We were a twosome and asked to go ahead of them and they refused.
Conditions of the greens were horrible for a place that is considered semi private.
Good course
Great place to play. Well kept, greens ran true, good driving range. Right to left flighters of the ball will enjoy this course the most. Will play here again
Lots of the greens were beat up, and at times had huge bare spots of dirt tons of hornets in the bunkers on some holes. The carts gps systems were constantly chiming , whether for an advertisement or pace of play ( which we weren’t playing slow ) Not to mention you could hear other players carts chiming clear across the course. If you aren’t a member , you have to use the bathroom the size of a closet in the pro shop. For the price go to a county course, There you can actually buy beers off the beverage cart
Not What it Used to Be
This place used to have perfect tee boxes and greens, but now there is mushrooms, mold, and many many unfilled divots on tee boxes, fairways are coming apart, rough isn’t getting trimmed, and the greens are the worst I’ve seen them in 7+ years of playing here. Staffing changes have made this place not as desirable to play at anymore. $50 for a hot deal was about as much as I would pay to play here now.
Big Al
Tee boxes need work, course in fair condition but overpriced
once or twice a year
Pace was slow on the front nine, our 4some following a single behind a 3some. We were told he was only playing 9, but we still waited on every shot. Course in real nice shape,
greens rolled very nice.
Vert slow play
The group in front of us were playing slow when we caugth up with them on the 6 hole. The golf cart gps kept telling us we were 20 minutes behind and we were behind because of the group in front of us. We never got in position to play thru nor did the group let us play thru. When we got to the 12th tee the group in front hadn't teed off yet. There was no one on the holes in front of them. That would be 13-17. A ranger came by and I told him about the slow play. He just sped off not saying a word. There was a big storm coming so we stopped play after 13 holes. If the group had played at the required pace we would have easily finished our round.
Fun Course, Prepare to Wait in Every shot
There is a lot to like about Colts Neck GC. The staff is great, the course is in decent shape, and it’s get able to put up a score.
Biggest issues:
pace of play is almost always slow.
No use of inside facilities. Locker room is closed to nonmembers & the bar/restaurant off limits to nonmembers. Saw the cart girl on course on the 2nd hole then she disappeared so prepare to bring your own snacks & Gatorade .
Enjoyable
Nice views, well shaded fir summer rounds, well worth a visit. Not overly challenging but certainly not easy, great place for a mid handicap player.
Bunkers are well maintained, no hard pack sand. Greens are receptive but need attention by players who refuse to clean ball marks.
Tip for staff….put sand on all carts so players can fill their divots!
Overall great choice and will definitely play here again.
Golf at the Shore
There are several golf courses in Monmouth County that any golfer should not pass up. Check out the Monmouth County Park System and be sure to play Colts Neck Golf Club.
Not worth the cost
Not worth the cost. Conditions of tee boxes, rough. Condition of greens, slow. Staff strick on policy. Carts have GPS but have too many commercials that become annoying distractions. Probably ok for members.
Overall a Good course.
Course in good shape. Staff were great.
Pace could have been better. No ranger & for a Hot day No beverage cart service. Gatorade would have been welcomed.
