The Architects Golf Club
About
The Architects Golf Club is a unique layout that honors legendary course designers including Donald Ross, A.W. Tillinghast, and Alistair Mackenzie. Each hole is named after a famous designer, beginning with Old Tom Morris. The opening par 5 pays homage to St. Andrews' designer through the use of the existing features as hazards such as the rock wall and the sloping hillside that the green is deftly carved into. One of the most memorable holes is the 13th, another par 5 that will give you a taste of what it's like to play Augusta. This Alistair Mackenzie-inspired hole offers many risks and rewards. Golfers will face fairways bunkers and a pond on the left and then a creek that runs diagonally in front of the triple-tiered green. Position is the key to maneuvering this tough hole.

1st hole Photo submitted by kobeguy2 on 11/17/2012
I am on this course like in dream and tel to me history of golf. thank jou very, very much
Nice course
The course offered a terrific deal through Golfnow. It was early enough to complete all 18 which was a good thing. The starter had no problem going out early since the course was wide open at that time. The greens actually seemed faster than during previous plays. The pace was essentially whatever I could make it. Without the wind from time to time, it would have been ideal weather. A few fairways were soft due to rain on previous days which made them vary path only. No real inconvenience. Recommend posting this course.
Firm but fair
Places to get in trouble and some risk reward options. Had an enjoyable round, course well laid out and did not feel gimmicky despite the homage to a different architect on each hole. Will definitely play again when I can’t play my home course (Monday/winter). I’m a 6 index but this course will suit all levels if you play the correct tees.
This course has great features
I enjoyed the different design styles of the holes and the history on how they were created. It was my first time playing and my Garmin range finder conked out after the 8th hole. I wished I purchased a yardage book because it was hard to find markers on the course.
A few bunkers needed fresh sand but I think they were addressing that issue.
There was a cart person available about every third hole and the weather was beautiful. I would definitely play this course again!
Interesting course designer history offered on every hole. Wide receptive fairways are in excellent condition, with appropriate punitive rough where you shouldn't be! The greens held extremely well and rolled true but slower than I am used to
Fun course to play!
We enjoyed our round at Architects. We were greeted by friendly staff in the pro shop and by a friendly starter. The pace of play was 4 hours and 10 minutes. It was interesting to see the names of the golf course designers on each hole and see the differences in their course styles. The course is a nice tribute to some of golf's great course architects. We would like to pay the course again when we are in the area.
very good selection of tee boxes
I am a senior golfer that only averages around 200 yards off the tee. the blue/red combo is great for the senior golfer. too many area courses have senior tees that are too long in yardage or too short . Architects hits the sweet spot.
Nice course
Very nice course with beautiful layout. Challenging but fair. I may have pick a wrong time to play as the green was a bit bumpy, was told the greens were aerated about three weeks ago.. still enjoyed playing there!
Great layout
The layout was great. not a bad hole on the course. Unless you are real Golf Course architecture geek the idea of every hole representing a different designer doesn't really work, but really a fun layout. course was in okay condition, greens were a little bumpy as they recovered from aeration. Teed off at 3 and were done by 6:30 worth it for $25
Greens at recently been aerated so the putting was bad.
Course was recently aerated and had to play the front nine twice. Found out when I arrived the morning of my tee time. Would have been nice to know when I booked the time. Maybe I would have selected another course.
I really enjoy the lay out of this course, the area that frustrated our entire group was the lack of yardage markers on the course. Almost No 100/150/200 markers and many of the sprinkler markers are unreadable.
Fun Course
Fun learning about each course architect as described at each tee box with the hole corresponding to each architect. Also hotdogs at the turn were the best $4 ever!!!!!!
Course and golf staff need help
I played Architects the first year it opened and havent played since, but only because not in area that much. The overall condition of the course is fair and no better, they are working on the bunkers and a few are G.U.R. you would think that this work would be completed closet no off season.
The outside staff gets A+, courteous and helpful. The kid, and I mean kid was sitting on a stool and never got up.(if I would've see any of my staff with a stool behind counter, they would be fired) not very professional, his clothes were wrinkled and his hair looked like he just woke up. Not good for what there claim of being an upscale facility. I may be over critical and I usually don't write this harsh of a review, but being a Life Member I have to say something.
Now the course rules, we all have our own ideas, but 90 degrees is ok, but once on the fairway you should not leave it until approaching the green, the rough at this course is terrible, all matted down from people driving in it. The starter they're 90 rule was hit your ball and go back to the path. This is why i stopped after 3 hours and 45 minutes at the 14th tee, I could see it was going to be atleast 5 and half hour round. Don't know what happened to this Club, but i would think twice about playing there.
Great as usual
Brought a few friends here for their first time and they were very impressed with the course. I have played here 4 times and have been trying to get these CC guys to this public course for years. Well, they regretted the fact that it took so long for us to make it happen.
Course was in great shape, even though the bunker renovation has started which meant on 2&18 balls were considered ground under repair, and greens were good too. They liked that each hole was unique and that there were no "throw in holes" which are typical on public courses.
You have 3 more fans how are already planning their next trip up from the shore.
Only blemish was the starter who could not have been more obnoxious to a group of guys who had done nothing but walked up to the first tee to start a round.
Nice Layout
I enjoyed the layout but the conditions were average. Sand traps were not raked and manicured (not counting the traps that were being reconstructed labeled under repair, that's understandable). The practice green was perfect but not really reflecting the actual greens on the course (speed or condition). Most of the problem was the lack of golfers fixing their ball marks. I guess courses need to pay someone to just go from green to green fixing ball marks (really should be done by the golfers). Also, they didn't roll very true probably because it was later in the day (3:08 tee time) and the greens were soft (spike marks, foot indentations, etc.). Glad I got to play at Architects and I would play there more often if it were closer to home (45 minute drive).
Great golf course
This course is on prestine condition on this gorgeous weather. Been playing here a lot lately, thank you Architects club for finally fixing those GREENSIDE bunkers that needed to be repaired.
The course plays long especially the back 9, greens were sleek and fast. Practice your putting before you tee off it is well worth the effort . Greens can punish you, par 3s are long and tricky, use a range finder with slope technology.
Overall it is a great course to hone your game. You will have a great round, weekends can be very crowded, if u don't mind 5 hrs. Play, then go and enjoy....
Very nine layout
Of course the holes are interesting and challenging. The conditions were wet and the fairways and greens were very soft. The front nine was VERY slow. No rangers. Not much water. I bought water on the course, which is ridiculous. All in all a nice treat, especially at a discounted price.
Slow Play Slow bumpy greens
I liked the layout and the twosome I was paired with but was disappointed with the greens as were they .
There was a foursome in front of us playing quite slow and were very inconsiderate. Ex: They stopped for the beverage cart girl in the middle of a par 3 with us standing on the tee box. Then went to the green individually to finish the hole. I'm sure the girl would have waited for them. There weren't any rangers on the course either.
I thought this was supposed to be a premium course and that i got a great deal, but it's basically an average muni or daily fee track.
It was a nice layout , quite a few blind shots, and very tough rough . I would play it again for the right price and being familiar with course now.
