Great for the price!
Great course for the price and enjoyable because I went on a weekday afternoon for an office "holiday."
Great Price - Terrible Greens
Greens Fee was $26, that may seem reasonable, but considering putting on the greens was like a ride down a pot hole ridden street. This course is in serious need of some TLC!
No refund during flood warning and torrential rain . . .
Have played the course before and it's not too bad, but I was very upset to find out that I would not receive a refund from the course when I tried to cancel during a time when the course and roads were flooded and there was a flood warning in effect. Not sure if this is a course mistake or a golfnow mistake, but it was disappointing either way.
Very Poor Condition
While Miry Run may have been a gem at one time, the luster has been to tarnished for value. The tee boxes are so spotty it's hard to find grass and the fairways look to have been cut with a home mower sometime last season. Remarkably, the greens were in pretty decent shape - but that doesn't make up for the shorty conditions everywhere else. Don't expect too much service from the staff, or even clean range balls on the irons only range - approx 180 yds. I wouldn't suggest Miry Run to anyone.
Miry Run - 08/10/13
I booked a tee time through Golfnow.com for 08/10/13 at 7 AM. I arrived at 6 AM as I like to use the time to warm up on the range and putting green. I pulled into the parking lot, and was literally the only one there. The parking lot was empty, almost ghost town like. The pro shop was dark. I finally found a maintenance worker and asked about when the pro shop would open. I was told 6:30 AM. So, I putted on the practice green and waited. It finally opened at 6:47 AM. So, no time to hit balls. Honestly, I have never seen a pro shop closed at that time on a Saturday morning. Usually, a good course is bustling with activity. So, not a good first impression. As for the course, the layout was decent. But, the conditions were bad. Chewed up fairways, and lots of weeds. Also, there were some greens in very bad shape. A shame. Good ownership and some good care could really improve it.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS
This course is absolute trash. Its tee boxes are sandboxes, its fairways are non existent, its sand traps are gravel and its greens are brown. I wouldn't play here if there was no greens fee. I couldn't believe how terrible the condition of this course was. By far the worst course I've ever played at.
DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE. That is unless you enjoy crabgrass.
Affordable and challenging
My first time playing here and the holes are kind of narrow. There are many water and sand hazards on most of the holes which force you keep your shots straight. It rained the previous day so the course was very soggy. That, the water hazards and all the trees and bushes contributed to the Mosquitos attacking us from hole 3-9. It got better on the back 9. Oh one other thing. There's a small airport right next to the course and a plain seem to take off every 10 minutes. So if your looking for peace and quiet this isn't the place for you.
The whole course was under water and staff didn't even try to make it any better
We had a foursome of golfers go out and play. The whole course was under water. You couldn't even drive on the cart paths or the fairways. the rough could not be told from fairways and there were mini swamps in every fairway. The tee boxes looked like the rough. Miry run couldn't pay me to go back there.
Course Needs work
Could be a nice course if it was maintained. County course so I suppose the effort to make it nicer isn't there. Nice layout and would be a little more enjoyable if more work was done to the grounds
A course more worried about beer and hot dogs
I grew up playing a bad south jersey track but miry run is by far the worst course I've ever played. While the first 2 holes are well kept with greens and bunkers in moderate condition the rest of the course is garbage. No yardage marking, no signs for how to get from one hole to another, several severely overgrown areas just off the fairway that smell like a rotting swamp, and my all time favorite greens that can only be compared to a gravel parking lot. I'm not normally one to complain, infact most of my closest golf options are in mediocre condition at best but miry run is just so much worse. Spend the extra 10 bucks drive and extra few minutes and hit up Mercer Oaks, you'll have a great course to play and won't walk off after 9 like my brother and I did.
Interesting layout needs some TLC
Not crowded in the afternoon when I played. Liked the hole layouts buts needs care. More sand in the traps many are just hardpan and stone. Staff friendly. I would still play it again but if they took better care it would be nice.
Very challenging
Needs more drinking water on course. The few that were there had NO CUPS111.
The course needs some updating
The cart paths were difficult to ride on and the course needs some maintenance. The people were friendly. It was not worth more than $21 I paid for the round
Too much water on the course. Cart path only made for a long walk.
It rained very hard the day before and the course seems not to drain well. Not much sand in any bunker. Most every fairway was wet.Course needs a draining system.
Only worth it at the right price
If the course was in better shape I would play it a couple times a year. Unless you get a good price on here I would not pay more than $30 to play here.
Good value
I couldn't recommend this course to a friend in its current condition. Fairways are in good shape, but several tee boxes were in bad shape, and I recall a sand trap having nothing but huge rocks in it. The biggest issue, and I will assume due to time of year, but a couple of greens on the front nine had not grown in yet and I was putting through some craziness.
All said and done, for the $20 with cart, you get what you pay for.
The course and greens were in good shape so early in the season.
It's hard to play a quick 18 holes at this or most public courses on the weekend but it's a fun round. The greens were in really nice shape. I've played this course many times and my only complaint this round is the same as always. The bunkers are more like "Gravel Traps" than sand traps, which makes it pretty much impossible to play a good sand save. No doubt I'll continue to play here from time to time, I just hope they buy some real sand or my approach shots have to get better!
Course nicely groomed as of this date
Fairways and greens in good condition; cart trails could use some help. Good foursome time should be <3.5 hours. Needs to have a marshal to keep up speed during prime hours; foursome in front fell 2 holes behind with their slow play.
Course needs work - Great deal however
Course needs alot of work, but for the price you cant beat it. Paid $13 bux for 18 holes with cart on a hot deal special. Actually the layout is really nice and can be challenging. Given the attention it needs, it could be a good course.
Thank you for your review. You saved me a couple of bucks.
