Great course in excellent condition
Heron Glen is a beautiful golf course and is always in excellent condition. The layout is challenging but not to the point where it is frustrating for most players. There are a few holes that are really difficult, but if you are a high handicap player, you just need to play smart on those holes and eliminate pretty much any chance for a par on those holes.
My only complaint is that the starters at Heron Glen are not very friendly. For this time playing, I was a single paired with another single. Although we did not know each other, the started told us to share a cart and gave us no explanation for having to do so. We then noticed that a lot of players in groups behind us had singles in multiple carts. Very frustrating!!
Top course in NJ . Must play!
This course is my pick for top public course in NJ. Everything is excellent from condition to layout to staff etc. It is a must play if your get the chance to play it.
Great course
Great course and conditions. Hard to get a tee time if not a resident but great track.
HeronGlen Great Course
Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Course CB is in great shape. Tremendous value for a great course. It was one of those days where the temperature was 95+. Ranger came a round with towels soaked in ice every 4 or 5 holes.
Heron Glen is a Great Course
Played HeronGlen in 95+ degrees. Course attendant brought cold towels around. Course is in great shape. Staff is excellent
A GEM in the dreaded public golf community
From the moment you pull up, you get the exclusive, private club feel. Then the practice facility blows away expectations, with a putting/chipping green that is like I was at a tour event. Now to the course, impeccably kept, lush tee boxes and fairways that consist of very very very well watered and maintained bent grass. Played the blacks (I’m a +2 handicap) at almost 7100 yards and about another 1000 yards of wind as the course sit high on an elevated terrain that overlooks gorgeous scenery of western New Jersey. Left with a 1 over 73 which early could have been in the mid 60’s as I took 4 penalty shots after hitting the screws on three drives that ended up going way further than expected and into hazard areas that cross several fairways. I will be back. Coming for the course record.
Exceeded my expectations
The course was highly rated, and it did not disappoint.
Was my first time playing , the course was challenging.
And definitely one of the best I have played in New Jersey.
For me it was a very very special day. Played very well.
I thank the Lord for this very special day
Loved it
Great staff, fun day, course needs some water
Great day, love playing here. But course needs some water. Greens running a bit on the slow side compared to usual but can be expected with this dry weather. Don’t want to lose the greens.
Great Day
Played as a single and met 3 great guys.
Course in excellent condition. Absolutely love the layout
Expectations met
First time playing HG this year. It’s always been one of our favorite courses, but it’s difficult to get a tee which speaks to the quality of the course. Fairways were in excellent shape as were the greens.
Our 3 some was behind a 4 some, which included one walker, so there was some waiting .
1st time here
and I was really impressed. Course was in immaculate condition and had a nice layout. If this course was closer to me I would play it as often as possible.
I’m not sure of you exact situation but most courses would require you to share a cart regardless if you know the person or not. Having 4 carts on a hole simply because each golfer doesn’t know each other doesn’t make good business sense. At times. Starters will allow multiple carts for 2 people because some are only playing 9 holes and they don’t want play to slow down at the turn. That could have been the case for the golfers behind you.
