North is great, but…

I saw nothing online that the greens were recently aerated. A little deceitful when you charge $71 for non-members. Other than that, course was great.

Bait and switch on tee times

Beware. Booked a Labor Day tee time for a group with a great Monday great. We check in to find the price is $20 more and the staff held firm on not honoring my group’s tee time receipts. The folks in front of us were late to the tee time because of arguing with the staff over said pricing. A deal is a deal. We were stuck as it’s a 3pm tee time, we get dinged as no shows, and there is no where to go at that point to get a round in.

Great!

I really enjoyed this course. Nothing too crazy but definitely challenging. Some long holes. It is in great shape. Well worth the money.

Solid Course

I'm in Bucks county, so there aren't too many options for solid public golf. Charleston Springs - North Course, was i thought one of the better kept public courses in the area.

There were a few greens that were protected by the shade, so they were a little more soggy and beat up, but I thought all of the greens were firm and true. Tee boxes from the tips were in good shape as well.

Definitely walkable as the course is pretty flat, there are a few holes with some solid distance in between tee boxes, but overall mostly flat and not too hilly. Greens fees was $52 and cart $17, so if you want to save money on the round and are able to walk, I'd recommend.

Will be coming back for sure!

South Side not in great shape

South Course fairways in rough shape. Haven't been here in a while, always in immaculate condition in the past, not this time. They'd recently aerated as well. I heard North side was still in good shape (can't personally confirm). Not sure if it's a fungus, insects or burned it fertilizing, but not good. They also don't have enough carts. Waited 25 mins after tee time to get a cart - had to wait as folks came off course, staff had to sanitize the cart and brought them over to starter. Kudos on the effort to maintain the safe environment, but they need more carts. This was a Fri afternoon, what's it like on a Sat/Sun morning? The carts matter here as I find this is a tough course to walk with large gaps between some holes and also the club house. I still see this as a good course and recommend playing here, in the hope they resolve the turf issues.

Pretty good round.

Overall greens and tboxes were good. Some dead spots on parts of some fairways. Most bunkers were fine. 1 or 2 were wet dirt. Conditions overall were good.
4:10 for round is acceptable despite a 4 some ahead of us that were playing each shot like it was the Masters. Staff was great. Good value for Monday Matinee. I’ll be back.

Rude staff

Not worth paying 80 bucks just to be berated by the staff, very rude old men who think they're running a private course, its a public course show some respect maybe.

Course was great, people were not

The course was in decent shape. I usually just take a course for what it is, but let me explain how unbelievably rude and inept the people who work at this facility are. They messed up our tee time, then tried to blame it on us. They booked a single when we have a foursome booked. They made us feel like we were crazy and were not nice at all about it.

On another note, I specifically called the day before and asked how much it would cost without me having a county card and using a riding cart. The person on the phone said "$70". I said "are you sure?" and he said "yes, $70 total". Low and behold it ended up costing $96. Is this Pebble Beach? These county courses charge an arm and a leg for everything and it's truly a rip off. I won't play here again.

WAY TOO EXPENSIVE

It's a great course it is, but for what they charge out of county and for the cart its just not worth it. $18 for a cart is ridiculous. they out of county rate is on the high side and I did play on a Saturday that's what ever I know that but they charge you an additional $6 for the reservation even though I'm not the one that made the reservation and everyone in the foursome I played with had county cards, I still get charged the $6, and I'm sorry to keep bringing it up but $18 for a cart per person is just greedy. Wont play here again

Beautiful course

About as scenic of a course as you can imagine with a very interesting layout. The greens had been recently aerated, but they weren't terrible. i didn't find the old guys who work there to be very friendly, but the course was well run. I loved it.

Best of the MCPC courses

This course is exactly what a county course should be. It offers plenty of challenge. I prefer the south course due to its layout. Playing from the tips offers tons of challenge while the white tees offer a great round. I keep a yardage book here that has taken plenty of strokes off my round. The range is in great shape and is set apart from the two courses. The facility itself is fantastic. The grill room is a great place to relax for a minute after the round. It’s not easily accessible from the south course for getting something to eat or drink at the turn but on peak weekends the cart girls come around pretty often. The practice green is in excellent condition.

Great Course once you get past the cranky old men

Played from the gold tees and found it fair and challenging. Course was in great shape to the compliment of the fine grounds crews.

Greens didn't have much break to them but were fair.

No shortage of grumpy old retirees who ride the course to tell you where you can park your cart, where you can tee off. We got chastised at the range (stay tight within the lines) By the starter (pull your carts up). I half expected one of the those old dudes to come out of the weeds to tell me I can't take a leak here.

Again, no one comes here for the friendliness of the staff, but the course is quite good.

North Course

Conditions are excellent throughout. Just not many memorable holes. The course is flat, but some long walks from green to next tee. Deep heather looks nice but slows play when looking for balls.

Fun course

This is a fun links layout up around freehold nj. Really fun course, well maintained, and interesting layout. In my multiple experiences it isn't exactly easy to get a tee time there, and it's a little pricey on out of county players.

Great Public Course

Probably one of the nicest courses I've played in terms of conditions. I've played both the North and South courses and prefer the links-style North over the parkland-style South which tends to be a little tougher. Being county resident you can't beat the price and even for out of county its well worth it. They usually do a twilight special. I believe its $30 or something for 9+.

The only problem with this place is the unfriendly staff.

Excellent county facility!!

I was quite impressed with this municipal facility. Expansive practice area and a well-manicured golf course (probably 2 of them, but I only played one). This review is for the South course.

There's a GREAT mix of long and short holes here. From the tips, there are a few north of 450 yards but a couple south of 350. Except for the 16th, the par-5s are reachable for big hitters. Several hazards to carry but there seemed to be options to go around most if not all of them if needed. Just a really fun golf course!

I did find the rough to be a little too thick, though. It was a good 4+ inches long pretty much everywhere - even just a yard from the fairway. There was little or no first cut to keep an otherwise good tee shot from rolling into a thick lie. I missed the fairway by a yard on one of the 450-yard par 4s and couldn't reach the green due to the lie. A slightly shorter cut would have been a little more appropriate for us mere amateurs. It was tough to even find a ball in the rough - especially with the several blind / semi-blind tee shots (again, from the tips - probably easier to see landing areas from the forward tees).

Greens rolled true and a nice speed. Fairways were in excellent condition. The bunkers seemed to be in good shape - I don't think I hit any myself.

All-in-all, I can't say enough good things about this course. Thoroughly enjoyable!
