Great Gorge Golf Club - Quarry/Rail Course
About
Great Gorge Golf Club is situated on 500 acres of naturally preserved land, nestled in the Vernon Valley between the Wawayanda and Pochuck Mountain Peaks. Designed by George Fazio in 1970 on behalf of Hugh Hefner for his Great Gorge Playboy Club, the course boasts 3 championship nines: Rail, Lake and Quarry. With four tee box options, the course is manageable for newer golfers yet challenging for lower handicap players, making Great Gorge an ideal venue for all golfers.

Course was in great shape for winter time.
Was very cold out so nobody was there. Course was in good shape. Had a good round.
Wonderful golf course
It's an excellent golf course.
All staff are pleasant and significant assistance to players
You can also enjoy the fall scenery.
It is wonderful.
Scenic Challenging Course, Slow Pace of Play and Conditions could be better
Very scenic course and friendly staff. Pace of play was poor and aside from all the water on the course the tee boxes were in bad shape and fairways were okay. Hit the practice green first instead of the driving range since the greens are lightning fast.
Greens are in Phenomenal shape!!
I was truly a regular at Great Gorge when it was apart of Crystal Springs. I play in a weekly league and would probably play 3 other times weekly as well. With the 3 9-hole options you can always get a different feel for the course. My point, back then the greens were always in rough shape, today was the 1st time back since new ownership took over. I must say I have never seen those greens , the entire course for that matter look so good. Bravo to the ground crew and new management. The course is still very wet all over the place, but even with that the place looks and plays great.
Great course!
All are great except missing yardage on the cart… thank you
Fun but slow day
I see people complaining about the cart paths and the carts. If you are looking for top of the line carts or paths that are paved smooth then don't play here. The course was well kept some t boxes were good others not so much but for $45 during the week the place is well worth it. Only problem was pace of play. It was slow. 1130 t time and finished exactly 5 hours. The burgers at the turn were good. Oh and the greens are pretty tough. Played rail/lake and some challenging putting but great day overall.
Excellent greens
First time playing the course. I was a little nervous pulling into course because of the surroundings; but I was very pleasantly surprised after teeing off. I played lakes and quarry. All the greens are healthy and fast. Fairways are lush and a very nice layout. I would return
1st round of the season
The course was in good shape. Course is challenging and fun to play.
Solid Courses
Great Gorge is solid—a good challenge for all types of players.
Tired and old
In general, this is barely a 4 star course. 3.5 at best. Everything just seemed tired and old. Between the abandoned old playboy resort buildings and deteriorating parking lots and roads, It just felt like Hugh Hefner was still haunting the place being creepy.
$75 a round is steep for carts with NO GPS and the course conditions were as good as a county course. Which is pretty much mediocre.
Staff are nice, but....I won't be back anytime soon.
