Wild Turkey Golf Club
About
Wild Turkey Golf Club is one of New Jersey's top public courses. It is part of the Crystal Springs Resort, which offers six other courses including the popular Ballyowen and Crystal Springs golf courses. Wild Turkey combines characteristics from both. The layout has a unique design inspired by the interesting topography, which is most aptly described as "basin and ridge." The "basin" of the course is a wide-open expanse that offers plenty of room while the holes that play along the "ridge" of the golf course tumble across a variety of elevation changes. Due to the dramatic undulations of the terrain, it's a tough golf course to walk. Wild Turkey Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 seventh. This tricky hole calls for a demanding carry over a quarry lake in order to reach the well protected green.

beautiful views Photo submitted by anumsuwan on 07/03/2013
Lots of picture taking opportunities
Dramatic views everywhere, staff was super friendly. The course itself is in great condition, except that the people that play it don't do a great job of fixing ball marks and stuff. There was no divot mix on the carts, which was frustrating because of how soft the fairways were.
But if you want to stand on every tee box and say "wow that's gorgeous", this is the perfect place for you.
Beautiful Views
Some great holes here. The course was in great condition, tees, fairways and greens. The routing is terrible, follow the arrows closely. Some long rides from green to next tee. Don't even think about walking.
Favorite holes, #1, par 4 down hill, with a beautiful view.
#7, par 3 all carry over quarry filled with water to a narrow green. It's a little on the expensive side.
The best of jersey golf
Fun good conditions Beautiful views interesting holes couldn't ask for more
Great Design
I'd give it a 5 out of 5 if the bunkers (which there are a ton of) were in better shape. The fairways were aerated too, but will recover as the crystal springs courses always do.
Golf Board!!
I don't remember the course too much other than some holes were hard and some were easy. I was too busy having fun on the Golf Board! If you're able to you MUST pay the extra $ and go with the board. It's a single rider. And with the ups and downs cart paths of the course it's a thrill itself. Personally I think all golf carts should be single riders, it would speed up play even more.
Most enjoyable course at Crystal Springs
This is my kind of golf course. Wide fairways, lots of elevated tees, big greens and few trees. In other words, all kinds of room to hit the ball, miss and recover. Really, I thought about giving Wild Turkey five stars, but it's not quite on the level of Ballyowen, which might be the best public course in New Jersey. Still, I'm not sure I didn't enjoy Wild Turkey more than Ballyowen, simply because we could play it faster and make more birdies. On top of that, the views were amazing, like the one on the par-3 10th, with a drop of more than 75 feet, and there are several vantage points on the course where you can see the surrounding countryside for 50 miles or more.
I don't believe this is a Top 10 NJ Course
I played 18 at Wild Turkey today with my son. We were like two giddy kids last night very excited to play 1 of NJ's Top Rated Golf courses, got tee's & golf balls at Dick's, cleaned our shoes & pressed our pants to make sure we looked the part as well. When we arrived an hour plus early, we were told the driving range was closed due to maintenance. While at the practice green, it was apparent, no maintenance either of us could see was going on. The course is nice, but Top 10 in NJ is hard to understand. If you hit any green, your ball bounced followed by ploom of sand. The greens were aerated I'm guessing about a month ago, and have far too much sand on them for a Top 10 rated course. The bunkers were DEFINITELY not Top 10 quality, some were predominantly dirt, most had little to no sand & little to no manicuring. This is my 1st time using GolfNow, so moving forward I will include pics in my reviews so golfers can judge for themselves. While sitting in the Club House which I do believe is Top Notch, Reward Members & Club Members shared my concerns.
Truth be told, I only paid 35.00 thru GolfNow so my son & I got our monies worth, but we definitely did not get a Top 10 NJ Golf Course experience.
Good but should be better
I love the layout and the condition of the grass but other things need work at this price point. The bunkers are just awful, most are hard pack with rocks, I was in just one, on 18, and that had sand in it but the liner was ripped and had all little pieces of it in and around it. The carts are basic no amenity noisy gas and mine squealed when you stepped on the gas and a clip was missing on the windshield so it just kept banging against the frame when up. I don't appreciate the $3 booking fee for booking online and then the $3 resort fee tacked on at check in. Also the amount of range balls you get from your included token is hardly enough for a proper warm up. I expect more for my $136 on a Sunday morning.
Down hill
This resort seems destined for closing. They are not putting money back in the course. Poor conditions. Golf carts have no shocks, banged up needed replacement 2 seasons ago. The other cart had a wobbly wheel. At the desk they told us they top dressed the greens. They said it was posted on GN. I kept the receipt, it was not. There was more sand on the greens than the sand traps. Making both unplayable. The best thing about the course, the ball washers, although the towels were ragged.
Dear Rich,
I'm sorry to hear about your round at Wild Turkey, we strive to provide everyone with great memories and fun round of golf! I would like to talk to you further about your specific details.
Please give me a call 973-827-1442 ext. 203

Good Condition and Pace
Even though green was little bit slow, overall condition including fairway and bunker was fairly good enough to play.
Not ready for play
It was extremely windy day and the greens were very slow. We could have played faster if there was a ranger present
Wild, windy turkey
This is about my fifth time playing wild turkey and first in the spring. However due to the forecasted 25-40 mph gusty winds, I managed to play today for $10 with a hot round and $10 golf now reward. I am about an 18 handicap and managed to start the day just 2 over through four holes before the wheels started falling off on my ball striking. The course is s beautiful layout and the wind really made you think about where to place your ball and aim. I left some on the wrong but safe side of the green and didn't have to worry about being in trouble off the green. I finished with a 95 needless to say. Some of the approach shots were a two plus club wind and I still haven't figured out the right spot to put some of these balls on the fairway. The bunkers could use a little bit of sand and be raked but the fairways and greens were in excellent shape. I'll be back. I really want to play ball tower since I passed it on the way home but that will be for another day.
Worth the Drive Every Time
Wild Turkey may be my favorite course in the area. It's forgiving for having wide open fairways, but the are plenty of bunkers and elevation changes to still require excellent approach shots. If you're not hitting the ball well off the tee, the Challenge of the course really mounts on you. There are enough tee choices to make it a challenge for any player regardless of length.
The views are outstanding and the course conditions are immaculate even for this time of year. I love the layout and how unique each and every hole is. No two holes play at all similar.
The staff is exceptionally friendly and eager to assist you no matter what.
I cannot wait to return.
Great course
A forgiving course. Challenging enough which makes you want to come back. Had a great round and the staff were very friendly. Beautiful setting. Perfect for rounds of golf any time during the year..
Not worth a 100 mile drive play Crystal or Ballyowen over this one
I'm going to be as fair as possible about this review since most courses in the area have been aerated in the past month I'll give them a pass but the greens were very inconsistent in speed but rolled fairly true. I've never been to any Staten Island course but this reviewer right before mine must play bad courses regularly or Wild Turkey must only maintain the bunkers for weekend play. It rained about a week ago and to me it seemed like they haven't raked the bunkers since that time so don't know what this guy is talking about. I got a deal so it's the main reason I still give it 4 stars. However, there is no way I'd pay the regular asking rate for any course that does not rake their bunkers daily. They should be maintained like a PGA tournament course for over 100 asking rate. Plus most have too little sand making them quite firm. You will need to adjust and hit closer to the ball or use a wedge with less bounce. I wasn't in many thankfully but did take note of the condition and it was the same on every hole. The course is pretty open therefore the defense is the wind (it was calm today) and the green side bunkers so why wouldn't you maintain them daily? If I had paid full rate I'd have been really disappointed. With all that said the views are phenomenal. The layout is decent and fair for all skill levels. The staff is super friendly and it was an enjoyable day overall at the discounted rate I paid. The course is open and rough wasn't too high so if you're a single digit handicap you should definitely play the blue tees (or back if you dare). If I had played the whites it would have been way too short. The food and drink are good in the clubhouse though rather pricey but what you'd expect from a course that caters to a more affluent crowd. If I take the ride up there again I'd definitely choose Ballyowen or Crystal. Crystal is a very unique course and unlike any other in the state though it's super challenging if you're not a decent golfer.
A must play
I love this course. It's always in great shape. It has many memorable holes.I was able to get a great deal with golf nows"Hot deals",which made it even better.
Good round
Nice course on a beautiful piece of property. Probably wouldn't pay full price but that is because I am cheap. The facilities, lodge, etc were awesome. The course was in good shape but the greens were only "ok". A bit beat up but still better than a county course.
erosion, you should have soell check.
