Course conditions are really really good. but its slow
The fairways, tee boxes, and greens were really green and nicely maintained. Maybe the best conditions of any central/northern NJ course i've played all year.
The starter wasn't doing a good job at the tee box. We had a 12:48 tee time and upon arrival we were told that there were a few groups in front of us and things were operating about 15 minutes behind. Not unusual, so I hit the putting green for a few to wait, and once we got to the tee box we found out the groups in front of us were ~1:05 and ~1:15 groups each going out twenty or so minutes early and making us wait even though we were on time/early for our own tee time. So we (and the 12:54 group behind us) all played late and behind these other two groups. Hyatt can get backed up but the ranger/starter needs to do a better job at the first tee and moving things along, along the course.
Overall the course is in great shape and is worth the money, but get out there early or expect to wait.
First time
Course layout was surprisingly good. Pace was a little slow due to a mini outing that day but it wasn’t bad. Will play again !!
Great course overall
Great rates available. Course is well maintained. At times, slow pace but not overly concerning. Easy to get to, 3 minutes from GSP. Easy walkable 9 hole course with a great layout. Would definitely recommend this course.
Always backed up
There was a threesome in front of my group; one golfer was teaching the other two. They took about 10 practice swings every shot and even paused for coaching. Both rangers stopped to talk to them, but it made no difference. They were so slow that by hole 8 there were 3 foursomes waiting on the same tee box while no one ahead of the threesome. The ranger needs to draw a line earlier and kick off bad groups earlier, especially on 9 hole courses.
I've only played here twice. The first time, my group waited over an hour past our tee time to get on the course. Yesterday, we only waited a half hour.
The course is in good condition, staff was friendly, and the food was good at the clubhouse. Come here if you have more patience than I do, but there's too many good courses in NJ for me to deal with that a third time.
Disorganized
I was about 10 minutes early for my 11:27 AM teatime and the starter said I had to wait for two groups and then I could go. At that time there was nobody with me. When I got to the first tee, I waited for the group on the tee to go and then the next group. When I was about ready to tee off there was some confusion as a foursome that came off facing nine holes said they were going to play it again. I said they could hit after me since I was following instruction from the starter. It does not make sense to me from what the starter told me plus waiting for another foursome when I was just one person and actually a second person join me who is waiting as well. When I was on the first Green the starter rolled up and said I should not have gone ahead but he apologize for the confusion. Because I had no idea I was following his instruction. He was very polite but he created his own confusion. It was very disorganized.
And summary there needs to be one person on the staff at the First Tee at all times and one other person ranging the course. The nine holes took about 2 1/2 hours slightly more which is not acceptable for a short course that is fairly open. The reason for the delay is there is no one at the starter First Tee and there’s not one person acting as a Ranger on the course to keep people moving.
That’s a very nice course but just needs to be run a little smoother with an employee on the First Tee and an employee acting as a Ranger. Only need two people.
Considering our current drought the course was in great condition.
For the amount of play this CV course was in great sc hape.
Need a ranger
The course needs a ranger to keep up pace of play. Hi Tina off at 7:42 AM but took a little over two hours and 30 minutes to play. The course is not overly long and fairly wide-open and should be able to play no more than two hours or two hours and 10 minutes. There were some significantly slow play. But one or two Rangers max other chorus would be greatly benefit to keep up the pace of play it make the round much more enjoyable. I am less inclined to play there on the weekend now
Excellent 9-hole Course
Course is nice and in good shape. Greens can be tricky but in good shape. Tends to play slow as in 2.5 hrs for 9 holes.
